Our commitment
New York Limo, LLC is committed to making newyorklimo.net usable by everyone — including riders who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, screen magnification, or who have low vision, color blindness, motor impairments, or cognitive differences.
We design and build with accessibility in mind from the start, and we treat reported issues as bugs to be fixed — not edge cases.
Standards we follow
We target conformance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. This is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, and the EU Web Accessibility Directive.
We have not yet completed a formal third-party audit. The “What we've built” and “Known limitations” sections below reflect our current best assessment, not certified conformance.
What we've built
The site is built so that:
- Every interactive element is reachable by keyboard. Tab moves through links and form fields in a logical order; Enter and Space activate buttons; Escape closes dialogs and menus.
- Focus is always visible. A clear focus ring appears around the currently focused element.
- Screen readers get meaningful labels. Icon-only buttons (menu, language selector, close) carry
aria-labelattributes. The logo image has empty alt because the brand wordmark next to it is the spoken label. - Form fields are labeled. Every input has an associated
<label>. Validation errors are announced viaaria-invalidand described byaria-describedby. - Color is never the only signal. Required-field errors include text, not just a red border; selected items in menus include a checkmark, not just a color change.
- Text resizes. Body text is set in relative units and remains readable at 200% browser zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Pages and sections have a clear hierarchy. One H1 per page; H2 / H3 used for outline structure; landmark regions (
<header>,<main>,<footer>,<nav>) for screen reader navigation. - The language selector renders native scripts (e.g. العربية, 中文) with the correct
langattribute on each item so screen readers pronounce them correctly.
Known limitations
Honest disclosure of work-in-progress areas:
- No formal WCAG audit yet. A full third-party audit and remediation pass is scheduled before public launch.
- Color contrast has not been programmatically audited. Our palette was chosen for readability, but specific token combinations have not been measured against the WCAG 4.5:1 (body text) and 3:1 (large text and UI components) ratios. Some muted-foreground text may fall short and will be adjusted after audit.
- Date/time picker. The booking widget's date and time picker (built on a popover plus calendar) needs a dedicated screen reader and keyboard test. The current implementation uses text input with a placeholder rather than the native date control specifically because the native control renders inconsistently — a custom picker that's both consistent and accessible is on the roadmap.
- Logo asset. The brand crest is currently a JPEG-derived PNG. A vector (SVG) replacement will sharpen the asset at all zoom levels.
- Third-party content. When we integrate Google Maps autocomplete and Stripe payment elements later in development, those embeds carry their own accessibility characteristics that we don't fully control. We choose vendors that publish accessibility statements.
Compatibility
The site is built to work with current versions of:
- Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers
- VoiceOver (macOS, iOS)
- TalkBack (Android)
- NVDA and JAWS (Windows)
We test on iOS Safari with VoiceOver and macOS Safari/Chrome with VoiceOver as primary; broader assistive-tech testing happens before launch.

Report an issue
If you encounter something on this site that doesn't work for you — a screen reader misreads it, you can't tab to a button, the contrast is too low, or anything else — please tell us.
Email contact@newyorklimo.net with “Accessibility” in the subject. Include:
- What page you were on (a URL is helpful)
- What you were trying to do
- What assistive technology you use (screen reader name, browser, device)
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and to ship a fix or a remediation plan within 14 days, depending on complexity.
